The Boston Russian Chorus was formed by Irina Shachneva in 1997.

The Chorus is the only continuously existing group in the Boston area, which regularly performs the best examples of Russian Orthodox liturgical music, classical and modern Russian compositions, as well as a wide variety of authentic and arranged Russian and Ukrainian folk songs.

The membership is very diverse, comprised of Russian and non-Russian speakers, ranging in age from teens to senior citizens and in ability, from amateur to professional. Their love of singing and of Russian music unifies them in a rare and unique fashion.
